Balenciaga is a luxury fashion house founded in 1919 by Spanish designer, Cristóbal Balenciaga (January 21, 1895 — March 23, 1972) in San Sebastián, Spain. It became a Paris couture house in 1937 and closed in 1968. The fashion line resumed in 1987 and became a haute couture house in the fall of 2021.

From November 2012 (FW2013) through July 2015 (SS2016), Alexander Wang was creative director at Balenciaga. Since October 2015, the current creative director is Demna Gvasalia.
