The Fame was first released on August 19, 2008 in Canada before being released elsewhere with revised tracklists in 2008 through 2009. A total of 17 tracks were released including the bonus tracks of the localized versions. The album had 4 singles and 1 promotional single released under a period of two years begining in March of 2008 and ended in July of 2009. The Fame was included as a bonus disc on the deluxe edition of The Fame Monster (2009).
Aside from the album and singles, a limited edition acoustic EP, The Cherrytree Sessions was first released on February 24, 2009 as a Borders exclusive, and was later made made available for digital download, and a physical re-release. A limited edition remix EP, Hitmixes, was exclusively released in Canada in 2009.
