Maison Michel is a French hat-maker and millinery designer brand founded by Auguste Michel in 1936. It was sold in 1968 to entrepreneur Pierre Debard and his milliner wife Claudine. In the 1970s, Maison Michel provided hats for Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, Valentino, and Chanel. In 1997, it was acquired by the Chanel subsidiary Paraffection, known for its annual Métiers d'Art collection, a group of independant heritage craft workshops. In 2006, the brand released its first Ready-to-Wear hat label under the creative direction of Laetitia Crahay who is also the head accessories and jewelry at Chanel for Karl Lagerfeld. Since 2015, Priscilla Royer is the new creative director for the brand.
