ARTRAVE-INSIDE-001
ArtRave invite
not to be confused with ArtRAVE: The ARTPOP Ball

The "artRave" is the name of the "ARTPOP" launch party held in the Navy Yard located in Brooklyn on November 10, 2013. In the party Haus of Gaga's projects and the collaborations with Inez and Vinoodh, Robert Wilson, Marina Abramovic and Jeff Koons were exhibited, along with Volantis.

Background

The project was officially revealed in Haus of Gaga's open letter on July 15, 2013. That same day, rumor has it that Gaga played "ARTPOP" songs in her car while she gave her each fan an artRave invitation. The rumor was quickly confirmed as a picture of the event appeared on littlemonsters.com and got much attention.

As the time passed by and the event got closer and closer, Gaga started tweeting to her fans about how excited she is and she revealed much more details about the project.

About the location, it's officially confirmed that is in New York City but nobody knows where's exactly. The invitations didn't feature exact address but it did feature an e-mail address for fans to RSVP the day artRave is held so they could get the time and the location details.

Broadcast

Vevo hosted a live-stream of the concert at 11:30 p.m. ET. on November 10, 2013. The event was available on  Vevo.com, as well as Vevo’s free apps on iOS, Xbox and Apple TV. Rebroadcasts of the performance will run for 48 hours following the show.

On November 11 at 9 p.m., ET Clear Channel broadcasted a half-hour “Album Release Party with Lady Gaga” special hosted by Ryan Seacrest on more than 150 Clear Channel Contemporary Hit Radio (CHR), Rhythmic CHR, and Hot AC stations around the country. One of the hardest things that I ever had to give up was drugs and alcohol. And I still have a real hard time with it. But I wanted to say something about it tonight because I've watched too many great artists and too many friends go, because of those two things... And I want tonight so badly to be a change. I do not have to be high to be creative. I do not have to be drunk to have a good idea. I can sit with my thoughts and not feel crazy. I can do it. I can do it without the dope.

Interpretation

ATTENTION!
The following section is based on fan's speculation and may not represent Gaga's intention or meaning.

During the performance of "ARTPOP", Lady Gaga removed an alcoholic beverage from the pedestal of an art piece (a statue designed by Jeff Koons and crafted by Creative NYC), as she was walking through the crowd to the stage. Most likely, she did out of respect for the art, the artist and people who created this statue because someone left an alcoholic beverage there. Museums and art galleries aren't trash cans and the items on display should be preserved and respected. Just because there was an event where the pieces can't have the normal amount of space and boundaries around them to protect them didn't mean the crowd had permission to lean on them and leave their trash around or use the art pieces like end tables. Another version says that she removed an alcoholic beverage, because you shouldn't leave your glass out of your hand and field of view when partying. Anybody could have slipped anything in that glass. So, she might saved someone.

The whole show reflects Lady Gaga's battle with society and its certain norms in some way: what is normal, what is not. Being different, "weird" and creating art is where she feels safe. Not fitting in, not being "cool" and not being like everyone else makes you weird. That is what society is telling people through print media and social media. Through this performance one can see that Lady Gaga is physically struggling with the crowd, being dressed extraordinary and the audience is watching her like some kind of experiment almost laughing at her. At the end of singing "ARTPOP" she comes to the stage and dancers rip her costume definition of breaking her character and who she is as a person. She is left broken on the floor looking just like anybody else. Being boring and ordinary but deep down sad and broken.
