Junko Shimada is a Japanese designer was born in Japan in 1961. She studied at the Sujino Gajen Dressmaker Institute of Tokyo. In 1981, when she was 20, she went to Paris. She worked in the Printemps departmental store and then for the Mafia Design Studio. Junko also worked as Chief Designer of Childrenswear for the French house of Cacharel. She started her own label in 1984, on the rue Etienne Marcel in Paris.
