The United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund (UNICEF) was created by the United Nations General Assembly on December 11, 1946, to provide emergency food and healthcare to children in countries that had been devastated by World War II. In 2012, Lady Gaga teams up with the United Nations and UNICEF on a new project together with the singers Born This Way Foundation called the Youth Empowerment Initiative. She will be travelling all over the world and visit many families, orphans and communities in need. Her goal is to empower the youth to be brave in their struggles. The singer spent time visiting children in Lima, Peru and Naledi, South Africa. Gaga wrote on Twitter: "On Dec. 1 I visited Isibindi Safe Park in Naledi to speak w the children about Youth Empowerment on behalf of UN/UNICEF. I will be continuing my work with UN/UNICEF and a Littlemonsters.com page documenting our progress will up shortly.
