- Quotes
“ | I just always wanted to be independent, making music, and a free woman. It’s just kind of always been in my blood. | ” |
—The Advocate Online, "Gaga for the Lady", Louis Virtel (November 13, 2008) |
“ | I did the record over a period of a few years, so I just changed and I grew. When it came time to put all the songs on the record, I felt like I had a lot of hits, but they all came from different parts of my life. I thought, why limit myself to just putting all synth-electro-pop records on here? Let me give everybody a real record. A real body of work. | ” |
—PopEntertainment.com, "Winning the Fame Game", Jay S. Jacobs (October 26, 2008) |
“ | My brain doesn't function in a way to permit me to have any other kind of life outside of music, art, fashion and expression. I remember sitting in jazz clubs and being wide-eyed and so excited. I don't know how to explain my passion for songwriting and performing. It's just in my blood, and there was never a point where I wanted to do anything else. | ” |
—SongwriterUniverse.com, "Special Interview: Lady Gaga Tells How She Got Started, And Discusses Her Songwriting", Jason Blasco (October 23, 2008) |
“ | The music is intended to inspire people to feel a certain way about themselves, so they'll be avle to encompass, in their own lives, a sense of inner fame that they can project to the world, and the carefree nature of the album is a reflecion of that aura. | ” |
—MTV News, "Lady GaGa brings her artistic vision of pop music to new album - And a New Kids song", Chris Harris & Kim Stolz (June 9, 2008) |
“ | I would not be able to breathe if I couldn't make art. I just wouldn't. Look at me. This is me on a normal day. I wake up like this. This is like- I wake up in the morning, and I make my hairbow, and I put my cat suit on, and I call up everybody in the Haus of Gaga and I say, "How are we gonna be brilliant today?" | ” |
—YouTube, On Da Grine with Valentine, Valentine Henderson, (December 3, 2008) |
“ | The way that Andy Warhol attempted to make commercial art that was taken seriously as fine art, is the way I want to make pop music, pop art performance and pop fashion that's taken seriously as high fashion and highbrow. | ” |
—New York Post online, "She Does It Her Way", Maxine Shen (October 28, 2008) |
