Gordon Matthew Thomas Sumner CBE (born 2 October 1951), known on stage as Sting, is an English musician, singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, activist, actor and philanthropist. He was principal songwriter, lead singer, and bassist for the new wave rock band The Police before a solo career.
Lady Gaga and Sting have performed together several times. Gaga first met him backstage at the Monster Ball in January 2010. The first time they performed together was at an Elton John Gala on May 13, 2010, where they performed "Stand By Me". Gaga added Sting in her act, where they performed "Stand By Me" again at the iHeart Radio Music Festival in October 1, 2011. Gaga was also invited to his 60th Birthday Concert, where she was featured in the performance of "King Of Pain". At the 37th Annual Kennedy Center Honors in December 7, 2014, Gaga did a tribute performance of "If I Ever Lose My Faith in You" by Sting.
