The demo of "Teeth" was written while Gaga was in China in 2009. It is the first known song to have been written with Taja Riley, and to feature a female for the background vocal other than herself. There are two meanings for the song, the first one is a juvenile kind of provocation and oral sex. The meaning behind this fear is when the lines read, "show me your teeth", it's another way of saying, "tell me the truth". Gaga also said it was "the first time in my life I've replaced sex with the truth." At the first show of The Monster Ball Tour, Gaga said the other thing she hated the most after money, was the truth.
